The immediate cause of Unitarian intervention in overseas evil was the desperate situation in Prague. What are we going to do? Those are our friends! Their plight was desperate, absolutely desperate. The houses were being rifled, people were being beaten up, and their lives were made intolerable, miserable, with nobody to help them at all. That was the inspiration, and that was the story, of the work.
