Teaching the Holocaust through Literature

Teaching the Holocaust through Literature

Teaching the Holocaust through Literature

Please join Facing History and Ourselves and Alpha Partners Education for a weekend of Professional Development at Fudan International School.

Facing History's pedagogy emphasizes close reading of challenging texts, critical analysis of primary and secondary sources, and the development of writing and speaking skills. We will model how to best integrate literacy strategies and resources within your curriculum using literature on the Holocaust, including first person accounts such as diaries, autobiographies, and poetry.

The lead facilitators, Rajesh Kripalani, Program Liaison at Fudan International School, Shanghai, and Juan Castellanos, Senior Program Associate for Facing History New York, will share effective learning strategies that can be used by teachers of History, Social Studies, English Language Arts, and the Humanities.

In this workshop you will receive a copy of a model unit for classrooms in China using Facing History resources and pedagogy.

After this workshop you will:

  • Receive a Certificate of Completion as proof of participation in Facing History’s training
  • Become part of the Facing History educator network, with access to a rich slate of educator resources, including downloadable unit and lesson plans, study guides, and multimedia

Cost:  $160 U.S.

We are pleased to offer this workshop free of charge to educators who are part of the Facing History or Alpha Partners networks.
