Facing History & Ourselves invites you to join our Teaching in Black History Month webinar in which we will provide approaches and materials to engage students in learning about, and memorialising, black history. We will also consider what connections we can make to the ongoing experience of racial prejudice and discrimination in the UK today.
In providing strategies to engage your students, create a more safe and inclusive classroom, and navigate difficult conversations during lessons, we will use a case study from 1960s Britain to explore race relations, legacy, and remembrance.
The webinar will:
Model how to create a safe and reflective space for dealing with difficult topics
Consider the way we teach and remember black history in the UK today
Provide you with interactive strategies, materials, and lessons
Highlight resources that will support citizenship, PSHE, and history education
You will leave the webinar with new resources and pedagogy to use straightaway in the classroom.
This webinar is from 4:30–5:30 PM GMT. If this time does not work for your schedule, be sure to register and we’ll send you the recording of the webinar.
