How do we help students see hope in times of uncertainty? How do students learn to find their own voice and sharpen their sense of agency? This workshop, co-facilitated between Facing History and Ourselves and Hearts on Fire, is designed to introduce educators to Hearts on Fire’s Educational Initiative, which includes an educator guide written by Facing History to inspire students to spark change in their world and become future leaders for social justice. This is a great complement to Facing History’s Choosing to Participate resources.
In this workshop you will:
Discover new interdisciplinary teaching strategies that reinforce historical and literacy skills
Explore topics such as upstander behavior, choosing to participate, and learning from local community leaders
Receive a free copy of Hearts on Fire: Stories of Today's Visionaries Igniting Idealism Into Action
After this workshop you will become part of the Facing History educator network, with access to a rich slate of educator resources, including downloadable unit and lesson plans, study guides, and multimedia.
The event will be held from 4:30 P.M.- 8:00 P.M.
