Stories have the power to transform the way young people see themselves and others. This seminar uses Elie Wiesel's Night and other literary resources to examine ways to engage youth in thinking about identity, analyzing adolescent choices, and reflecting on the impact of history on individuals.

The seminar will equip teachers with practical literacy strategies, using rich primary sources and historical background materials along with interactive strategies for teaching memoir as informational text. Participants leave with strategies to educate and empower their students.
