Presented by Facing History and Ourselves and The Allstate Foundation in partnership with The Orpheum Theatre.
Facing History and The Allstate Foundation proudly present a Community Conversation with Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and author Sonia Nazario, who has written about social issues for more than two decades, most recently for the Los Angeles Times. Her astonishing bestseller Enrique’s Journey chronicles her reporting of a Honduran boy’s epic journey to the United States to find his mother. By revealing the perils thousands of immigrants face each year as they attempt to reunite with their families, Nazario puts a personal face on one of the most challenging and divisive issues of our time. Told through a reporter’s eye, the book offers perspectives that fall on both sides of the national dialogue on immigration.
Join us to hear unique perspectives from Nazario, which foster empathy and bring new insight to one of today’s most divisive topics. This event brings together hundreds of students, teachers, administrators , parents, and community members, including our Memphis Partner School Networks where Facing History themes extend beyond the classroom to visibly impact whole school cultures.
