Civic Education Equity Education Learning for School Leaders Social-Emotional Learning

In this workshop, educators will:

  1. Engage with a newly produced C3-aligned US History inquiry, We The People: Expanding the Teaching of the US Founding.

  2. Collaborate with other Massachusetts educators to share insights and learnings around Civic Action Projects to inform your approach for the upcoming academic year.

  3. Explore teaching strategies around current events that help students interrogate text, think critically, and discuss controversial issues respectfully.

Join us in person on August 9 to explore Facing History civics resources and be in conversation with other Massachusetts educators around civic learning and projects. This workshop will showcase Facing History’s approach to Civic Education. We will share resources and teaching strategies connected to civic learning to refresh your curriculum. This session will also offer an opportunity to practice approaches to discussing current events in a politically polarized environment. Plus, there will be time dedicated to sharing and learning from other educators around Civic Action Projects. This workshop is designed for Massachusetts educators but others interested in civics may also attend.

Facing History & Ourselves New England is an approved Professional Development Point provider. Our content areas are History; English Language Arts; Social Emotional Learning. Any combination of 10 hours of programming can be used to satisfy the Massachusetts Department of Education requirements.
