Teaching current events can be challenging: the news cycle moves quickly, stories are complex, and unfolding events can spark strong emotions. But engaging with current events is an essential part of educating young people to be informed and humane citizens in a democracy.
Join Facing History and Ourselves in a virtual workshop as we explore tools and strategies that help educators organize discussions on current events in their classrooms, develop young peoples’ capacity to examine issues from multiple perspectives, and think critically about the world around them. This workshop will feature content, pedagogy, and resources for addressing the question of how we can prepare students to actively engage with the world outside our school walls.

- Teaching ideas for addressing breaking news and ongoing issues
CTLE hours will be provided upon completion of the two part series for NY educators and Certificates of Attendance will be provided for New Jersey educators.
