Following the end of apartheid, South Africa’s National Department of Education introduced new curriculum to create well-educated, active citizens. Facing History and Ourselves was brought in to help support educators implement this new curriculum.
Overton High School is a public high school located in Memphis, Tennessee. The high school serves over 1,300 students, including those enrolled in Overton High School’s Optional Program for the Creative and Performing Arts (CAPA). Overton joined the Innovative Schools Network in 2012, and Facing History has since expanded from its role in individual classrooms to one that affects the entire school community.
