In this workshop, you will:

  1. Explore the use of primary source documents through a C3-style inquiry to learn about the history of Japanese American incarceration during WWII. 

  2. Get access to a range of  US history resources and units aligned to the C3 inquiry format. You can preview Facing History’s US History Curriculum Collection.

  3. Become part of the Facing History educator network, with access to a rich slate of educator resources, including downloadable unit and lesson plans, study guides, and multimedia resources.

  4. Learn about WWII from the perspective of Japan.

Join this one-day workshop for New York-area educators, offered in collaboration with the Japan Society, to discover tools and strategies to engage your students’ hearts, minds, and consciences with a focus on the teaching of  Japanese American incarceration during WWII. You’ll come away from this workshop prepared to implement Japanese American Incarceration in WWII: A US History Inquiry. In commemoration of the 80th year ending WWII, Professor Eiko Maruko Siniawer from Williams College will also present on the Japanese perspective and experience of WWII.  

Recommended for social studies and humanities middle and high school teachers.
