Join us as we explore the integration of civic learning, literacy, and writing skills within the teaching of history. Along the way, you’ll get to know Facing History’s expert program staff and experience Facing History’s learning journey:

  • Explore: Center students’ identities, voices, and lived experiences as they develop civic agency and responsibility.
  • Learn: Build students’ civic knowledge and understanding by engaging them in inquiry and analysis of the complexities of history, human experience, and societal issues.
  • Participate: Create opportunities for students to learn how to share their perspectives, exercise their voice, and raise awareness in informed and ethical ways using a variety of formats and media.

Participants will receive a free copy of The Holocaust and Human Behavior resource book and the Teaching Holocaust and Human Behavior curriculum unit.

Independent evaluation has shown that implementing Facing History’s approach improves students’ higher-order thinking skills, increases students’ civic efficacy and engagement with civic matters, and increases students’ tolerance for others who hold contrary views.
