See DetailsWhat can we learn from visiting Southern sites of historical significance? How are these sites preserved in the South? How do visitors interact with and learn from them? What are the particularities of studying these sites through a Jewish lens, and what does this teach us about the connection between Judaism and the Civil Rights movement?
Join us for a workshop that will spotlight a growing interest in Jewish school-run educational trips to the American South. Recognizing a growing trend for schools to incorporate this trip into their curriculum, facilitators from Facing History and Ourselves’ Jewish Education Team [and Southeast Region] will share example itineraries and discuss the planning decisions behind them, reflecting on the guiding questions that shape these study tours. Facilitators will also share Facing History content and relevant pre-work and curricula support.
This program is geared towards educators in Jewish settings who are interested in planning or refining Southern Jewish educational travel experiences, or who are looking for best practices around immersive educational travel with their students.
