The Pursuit of Educational Justice
Join us on April 9 at the Boston Public Library for a powerful evening exploring what we can learn from our past about what it takes to make progress toward educational justice. This event will be hosted in person.
The Pursuit of Educational Justice
What can we learn from our past about what it takes to make progress toward educational justice? As we look back at the crisis that arose from the desegregation of Central High School in Little Rock, Arkansas in 1957, we see throughlines that connect to the court-ordered desegregation of Boston Public Schools in 1974,. The choices of individuals and communities that shaped these moments can inform and inspire us today.
Join Facing History & Ourselves for a powerful evening exploring these legacies and how we can apply lessons from past efforts to today’s ongoing pursuit of educational justice in Boston and across the country.
Panelists include Dr. Terrence Roberts, author and member of The Little Rock Nine; Michael Patrick MacDonald, author of All Souls: A Family Story From Southie; and Jessica Tang, President of the American Federation of Teachers Massachusetts. The panel will be moderated by Phillip Martin, Senior Investigative Reporter for GBH News Center for Investigative Reporting.
