This event is in the past.

This is the 11th anniversary of the Rachel Shankman Symposium. Named for the founding director of Facing History & Ourselves in Memphis, this day of learning is a tribute to her legacy to create a more inclusive and humane world. This gathering convenes middle and high school educators of our Holocaust and Human Behavior courses to engage them in professional learning and the opportunity to learn from a Holocaust survivor or scholar. Attendees will be able to deepen their understanding and enhance their pedagogical approach to teaching about the Holocaust while making connections between universal themes related to democracy, citizenship, racism, and antisemitism. Together we seek to create a more compassionate world today.

This event is presented by the Southeast Region of Facing History & Ourselves with generous support from the Memphis Jewish Federation.
