Please join us for the keynote conversation, followed by a Q&A, at the 10th annual Rachel Shankman Symposium. We will welcome Second Generation Holocaust survivor and first-time filmmaker Beth Lane and her debut documentary UnBroken. A true story, UnBroken chronicles the plight of Beth’s mother, Ginger Lane, and her six siblings following their mother’s murder at Auschwitz as they evade certain capture and death in war-torn Nazi Germany.

Our special keynote and Q&A features Beth Lane and a short clip from her documentary film Unbroken. As a member of the Second Generation (2G) of Holocaust survivors, Beth spent years making this film—she feels it is her responsibility to highlight inspirational experiences during this critical stage in history where normalization of antisemitism is now rampant. Her documentary explores the Weber siblings' courage and resistance, their parents' love and sacrifice, and the selflessness of the farmers who hid them. Created with interviews, archival footage, and animations, the Webers’ story provides compassion and hope while sharing history not to be forgotten.
