Our single professional learning sessions are designed to easily fit into your day. Typically one hour or less, these sessions explore timely and relevant topics including teaching strategies, current events, and more.

See DetailsSchool teams of teacher leaders, instructional coaches, counselors, and administrators are invited to attend our Explorations workshop to experience Facing History's approach to professional learning, learn more about the principles behind Facing History’s programs and pedagogy, and hear about ways we can help you meet your goals to transform your school community.
This three-hour, interactive virtual learning experience will introduce you to ways Facing History can support educational leaders working to improve school culture, deepen academic engagement, and build schools where every student and every teacher feel that they belong.

Workshop participants will:
- Experience first-hand Facing History's approach to professional learning and pedagogy
- Explore the ways Facing History integrates intellectual rigor, emotional engagement, and reflection on ethical questions to support a school culture where students and educators thrive and are successful
- Build shared understanding with colleagues of the ways Facing History can help meet their school’s goals
Sustained use of Facing History & Ourselves’ approach can empower young people to stand up against bigotry, bias, and identity-based hate.
Who Should Attend Explorations: Schools who are considering beginning a whole-school partnership with Facing History through the Schools Where We Belong program are encouraged to send teams of at least 3 people, including teacher leaders, instructional coaches, counselors, and administrators.. The cost of the workshop has been covered by generous funding from Facing History & Ourselves donors and partner organizations.
Workshop Schedule:
Tuesday, September 30, 2025 from 12:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. ET/9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. PT (convert to your time zone)
Workshop Time Commitment: Approximately 3 hours
Workshop Format: Facilitated Zoom meeting

Certificate of Completion
This event qualifies for a Certificate of Completion. At the conclusion of the event, participants will receive a Certificate of Completion for 3 hours of attendance. Certificates may be submitted for a school’s or district’s approval towards professional development credits. Requirements for professional development credits vary by state. It is the participant’s responsibility to ensure that they are meeting the requirements of their school, organization, and/or state.
