Antisemitic incidents in schools have almost tripled over the last five years, a concerning trend reflected in wider society.

During the workshop, we will consider:

  • Misinformation and disinformation, the history of antisemitic tropes and how they have evolved to retain relevance in the present day.
  • How we consume information, how antisemitism is spread online, and the consequences and impact of being exposed to antisemitic content.
  • Ways to respond to prejudice and challenge antisemitism.
  • New teaching strategies that help students interrogate texts, write and think critically, as well as discussing controversial issues respectfully.
  • Ways to facilitate respectful classroom discussions on antisemitism, racism, and other forms of exclusion in a way that invites personal reflection and critical analysis.

You will also have the chance to tour the Manchester Jewish Museum's galleries, learn about its school programming and consider some of its artefacts up close.

The workshop is a great opportunity for you to develop your own subject knowledge whilst at the same time explore activities that will help strengthen your students’ personal development.

This event will occur in-person at the Manchester Jewish Museum.
Address: 190 Cheetham Hill Rd, Cheetham Hill, Manchester M8 8LW
