This professional learning event will be led by Facing History staff. When you register, you will receive instructions for how to attend the event.

As a result of participating in this workshop, you will:

Experience Facing History’s approach to teaching US History through hands-on activities and engagement with rich primary sources

Consider how to support development of student agency and capacity for civic participation throughout a US History course
Join Facing History & Ourselves as we consider takeaways from our US History materials and how students can reflect on their own role in a democracy through inquiry-based learning. This workshop will revisit parts of our US History Curriculum Collection and consider how it can both shape and supplement your existing curricula. We will also walk educators through our Democracy and Freedom: US History Capstone Project, where your students will feel empowered to engage in civic “dreaming”, or to visualize the future they would like to build for themselves.
