In this special conversation, Facing History and Dr. Sonja Cherry-Paul discussed culturally responsive text selection, with a special focus on understanding anti-Blackness and the importance of celebrating Black joy. Dr. Cherry-Paul examined how to apply the principles of anti-racism to text selection as well as talk about current social and political challenges that can result in book banning and other restrictions.
