Who should take this offering:

  1. Creating Transformation through Equitable Schools and Classrooms is intended for participants that have already completed a Teaching for Equity and Justice (TEJ) workshop or institute with Facing History. 

  2. Registration will close on July 21, 2025.

Creating Transformation through Equitable Schools and Classrooms (Teaching for Equity and Justice II) builds on the foundation of being justice-conscious, inclusive educators and focuses on how these commitments translate into daily teaching and leadership. Through this experience, educators will explore how classroom and school environments can foster belonging, agency, and academic excellence for all students.

Participants will:

  • Deepen awareness by exploring how history shapes curriculum and classroom practices.
  • Strengthen skills and confidence to design responsive, student-centered learning experiences.
  • Foster student joy by cultivating inclusive and affirming spaces where every student thrives.
  • Gain practical tools to implement strategies that ensure all students feel valued, heard, and empowered.

Cost: We charge a nonrefundable processing fee of $25 when your application has been accepted. The full event cost of the seminar has been covered by generous funding from Facing History & Ourselves donors and partner organizations.

At-a-Glance Details

Who should take this institute: This offering is designed for educators who have already participated in our Teaching for Equity and Justice workshop or seminar

Time Commitment: Approximately 4.5 hours per day (plus some breaks). There is a pre-work module to complete before the institute that is approximately 2 hours long. 

Format: This interactive meeting will include conversation and breakout sessions.

Certificate of Completion

This event qualifies for a Certificate of Completion. At the conclusion of the event, participants will receive a Certificate of Completion for 9 hours of attendance. Certificates may be submitted for a school’s or district’s approval towards professional development credits. Requirements for professional development credits vary by state. It is the participant’s responsibility to ensure that they are meeting the requirements of their school, organization, and/or state.
