See DetailsArt has long been used as a tool for civic participation and upstanding, as it has the power to change how we perceive others, how we think about belonging and representation, and how we imagine the future.
Eighth grade students at Bell Elementary School, a long-time Facing History Partner School, create a Legacy Art Project every year under the guidance of art teacher Shana Pearlmutter.
Join us for a lunch & learn on February 9 (a Chicago Public Schools Professional Development Day) about art as a way to “choose to participate,” a tour of Bell’s many Legacy Art Projects, and to learn more about how to implement a cross-curricular art project at your Partner School.
This event will be held in person and is intended for art, social studies, and humanities teachers at Chicago-area Partner Schools. Partner Schools are asked to send teams of at least two people, including an art educator and social studies or humanities teachers.
Lunch will be served and Illinois-certified educators are eligible to receive up to 2 clock hours for full participation.
This event will occur in-person at Bell Elementary School.
