Single Session

Our single professional learning sessions are designed to easily fit into your day. Typically one hour or less, these sessions explore timely and relevant topics including teaching strategies, current events, and more.

Key Points

  1. Explore tools and resources that support constructive dialogue in the classroom

  2. Learn strategies that can promote reflective practices

  3. Engage in dialogue and learning from and with other educators

This interactive workshop is the first in a series that invites educators to experience and practice Facing History and Ourselves’ approaches and strategies for cultivating empathy, critical thinking, reflection and meaningful dialogue within a community of learners.

This workshop is designed to help teachers create brave classroom spaces where students can speak openly, listen empathetically, reflect and learn from each other.

During this workshop we will:

  • Discuss ways to critically examine your identity as an educator and how it shows up in the classroom
  • Explore teaching strategies to build community and trust with a focus on ideas that can be used at the beginning of the school year, and maintained through daily or weekly routines
  • Share methods to support reflective dialogue on topics that students may find challenging to talk about
