This institute for school, district and community leaders will focus on the role that in- and out-of-school educators play in preparing youth to participate as informed, ethical, and empowered civic actors in our democracy. At a time of rising threats to democracy in the United States and around the world, the civic mission of education is more important than ever. We will explore the interdisciplinary nature of civics and how each of us can strengthen democracy and civic agency across the curriculum in our schools and in our communities. We will provide educators and community leaders with resources to develop civic knowledge, skills and dispositions, foster a democratic culture and climate, cultivate youth voice, and increase civic agency.
This event will be hosted in-person at North High School Media Center.
