Our single professional learning sessions are designed to easily fit into your day. Typically one hour or less, these sessions explore timely and relevant topics including teaching strategies, current events, and more.

How do we help students understand the factors that contribute to the strength of a democracy? How do we explore the fragility of democracy and the divides that tear at the fabric of society? In this session we will delve into these questions with attention to the ways in which educators can cultivate civic agency.

In the workshop facilitators will discuss how to:

  • Create a shared sense of responsibility for upholding the value of democracy
  • Celebrate finding strength in our differences and how our diversity contributes to a healthier democracy.
  • Open spaces for perspective taking and for dissenting views. 

This workshop is the fourth offering in the Jewish Values in Living Democracy: Supporting students through a polarizing election cycle series, intended for educators in Jewish settings.

This workshop will not be recorded for later viewing due to the interactive nature of the program.
