Enrich the Jewish Holiday Curriculum using Facing History Materials

How can Facing History resources enrich the annual cycle of familiar seasonal materials? For example, how does the theme of “home,” so central to Sukkot, reflect Jonathan Sacks’ Parables of Integration? How does the tradition of wearing masks on Purim relate to the concept of concealing one’s identity described so profoundly in Maya Angelou’s poem, “The Mask”? What does the narrative of Ruth, which we read on the holiday of Shavuot, teach us about Universe of Obligation and our responsibility towards those around us?

During this webinar, we will explore practical tools and strategies that encourage students to make authentic connections between Jewish holiday content and Facing History themes encountered in the classroom.
