Legacy and Memory: Rabbi Joseph Polak Reflects on Elie Wiesel

In webinar 3 of the “Teaching Night” series, author and Rabbi, Joseph Polak will read several short passages from his poignant 2015 prize-winning memoir, After the Holocaust the Bells Still Ring. Rabbi Polak and Elie Wiesel were friends and study-partners at Boston University. Their weekly meetings continued for over thirty years. The book is now being read jointly with Night in several high school and college courses across the country. Rabbi Polak will talk with Facing History facilitators and webinar participants to illuminate this book, a resource that could serve as a rich teaching tool for middle or high school students exploring Facing History themes of memory, legacy and identity.

Rabbi Polak publishes widely in popular and scholarly media. He is assistant professor at the Boston University School of Public Health, rabbi emeritus at Boston University, and chief justice at the Rabbinical Court of Massachusetts.

This webinar is from 4 pm- 5pm ET.
