Navigating Difficult Conversations in the Classroom, Part 1

Building trust in your classroom early on is a key factor in your ability to have conversations about challenging topics with your students throughout the year. In this webinar, we will discuss how to cultivate safe spaces for students so that open and respectful dialogue can happen in your classes.

As the first webinar in an ongoing series about Navigating Difficult Conversations, we will discuss strategies about how to prepare yourself emotionally as an educator, how to structure an open and respectful classroom, how to establish classrooms norms for conversations and how to prepare students for those conversations (respect others, agree to disagree, reading materials in preparation, etc.).

Subsequent webinars in this series will discuss resources and strategies in addressing sensitive topics, such as race, homophobia, immigration, and more.
