The ongoing war in Ukraine is deeply disturbing and difficult for everyone, let alone young people, to process. The awareness of the lives lost and destroyed by this conflict, the racist undertones in how it has been reported in some media outlets, and the uncertainty about what might happen next take an emotional toll. Given this, it is important that the classroom is an environment in which students feel supported in expressing their concerns and facing this uncertainty, and which offers a sense of stability.
Join us for a one-hour conversation in which we will provide activities and resources to help ground students when discussing the war in Ukraine, and other conflicts, in a safe and reflective way. We will also suggest ways in which you can help students be critical consumers of the information they encounter online and in the media. Then there will be the opportunity to discuss and share experiences with other teachers in breakout rooms.
This event is aimed at teachers in the UK.
Details for joining the Zoom meeting will be shared by email prior to the event.
