Please join us for an evening of learning and sharing ways schools can be re-imagined in response to The Truth and Reconciliation Commission's Calls to Action.
This summit will include presentations of prototypes co-created by Indigenous mentors and students from schools in Toronto, Mississauga, and Hamilton who, as part of a month-long project, responded to the question:
How might schools acknowledge and integrate culture, knowledge, and contributions of Indigenous Peoples in ways that authentically represent their ongoing presence in this country, and specifically on the lands on which our schools are built?
The student creators of these prototypes will share what motivates and inspires them to seek changes in their schools today.
Our evening will include a sharing circle in which other voices will join our students and mentors as we consider the ways that we can decolonize our schools.
This Student Summit is funded in part by the RBC Foundation and The Ministry of Canadian Heritage.
