Keynote Speaker Barbara R. Snyder became president of Case Western Reserve University in 2007. Since her arrival, Snyder has encouraged interdisciplinary excellence, catalyzed institutional collaboration and reinvigorated alumni engagement and fundraising. During her tenure the university has tripled undergraduate applications, become twice as selective, and dramatically improved the academic credentials of the entering class. Case Western Reserve’s historically successful capital campaign has led to dramatic increases in the number of endowed professorships and student support as well as new building projects. In 2009, President Snyder appointed the university’s inaugural vice president for inclusion, diversity and equal opportunity to advance its core values of diversity and inclusion, including development of a university-wide diversity education program, enhancement of faculty, staff and student cultural resource groups, and gender inclusive housing.
