Facing History & Ourselves 2023 Leadership Summit

The Leadership Summit was an opportunity for Facing History & Ourselves' volunteer leadership to gather in community from November 10-12 in New York City to learn about our core work and recommit to the critical, collaborative work of facing history.

SUMMIT HIGHLIGHTS:

  1. Dive deeper into the role of classrooms and teachers in preserving our democracy, and explore the implications for education.

  2. Learn from scholars like Jimmie Briggs, Martha Minow, and Dr. Kidada Williams on how we wrestle with challenging histories to shape a more inclusive future.

  3. Grapple with the interconnectedness of racism and antisemitism with Chief Officer, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging, Dr. Steven Becton and Dr. Jonathan Judaken.

  4. Hear from our new CEO, Desmond K. Blackburn, PhD, about the moment we are in.

  5. Explore cultural opportunities in the heart of New York City!

We deeply enjoyed gathering with Facing History & Ourselves’ valued community members at the Leadership Summit in New York City from November 10-12, 2023.
