Tribute to Father Robert Bullock
Father Robert Bullock believed that when confronting the Holocaust and other evils of the twentieth century, it was never enough simply to acknowledge the crimes of the past. One was morally required to confront evil as it existed in history and in our own world. He saw it as his life's work to help repair the world, make it a better place, and face history in all of its complexity, not only its triumphs but also its most profound failures. Only through this process of facing history and ourselves was it possible that the atrocities of history would never happen again.
This memorial video highlights Father Bullock's inspirational role in the leadership of Facing History and Ourselves. It includes clips of Father Bullock and tributes by Margot Stern Strom and Doc Miller of Facing History, and scholars and friends James Carroll, Herman Blumberg, Paul Bookbinder, and Padraic O'Hare.
