Rescuers of the Holocaust: Boston Exhibit Study Guide

Rescuers of the Holocaust: Boston ExhibitThe rescuers acted at a time when most people saw themselves as helpless. Their action deepens our understanding of the ways one person can make a difference. They also expand our understanding of citizenship by helping us see good citizenship as a creative act - a work of the imagination. Through their imagination, they expanded their universe of obligation - the circle of individuals and groups for whom they felt responsible, to whom rules applied, and whose injuries called for amends.

This guide is designed to stimulate and inform such insights. It is divided into three parts, each encourages students to reflect on the choices made by individuals highlighted in this exhibition. PreView prepares students for a visit to the exhibition by exploring some of the factors that influence our decisions. The activities included in the second section foster critical thinking skills by encouraging reflection and discussion. The final section encourages students to think about moral choices and courage in the world today.
