One World: Connecting Communities, Cultures, and Classrooms
Developed through the support and vision of the NFL and NFLPA, and created by Scholastic Inc. in collaboration with Facing History and Ourselves, One World: Connecting Communities, Cultures, and Classrooms is a 10-lesson program for educators and parents to use with their 4-6th graders. It seeks to encourage dialogue about respecting one another, valuing diversity and ethnic differences, and taking positive actions to build stronger, more inclusive communities.
This program will especially be useful as educators look for ways to facilitate conversations around the anniversary of 9/11. One World is an interdisciplinary, multi-tiered program that fills a void, giving many educators and parents materials previously not available that help them address the critical issues surrounding cultural understanding. Educators around the country can access a reproducible and downloadable version of the One World kit through the Scholastic website at http://scholastic.com/oneworld.
