New England Holocaust Memorial
Our
identity is shaped, at least in part, by our history. One way a
community builds and preserves memory is through monuments that honor
its heroes or mark its tragedies. As Professor James E. Young explains,
memorials often become places where groups gather to create a common
past.
This guide uses the New England Holocaust Memorial to help students reflect on themes such as:
- Hate and intolerance
- Neighbor against neighbor conflict
- The connection between history and every day moral choices
