In 1942, Nazi Germany destroyed the Czech village of Lidice to avenge the assassination of Reinhard Heydrich, a mastermind of Nazi genocide. All 192 men of the Catholic town were murdered, all 203 women sent to Ravensbruck concentration camp, and eighty-two children were gassed. Lidice became a symbol of Nazi barbarism before the horrors of Auschwitz were widely known. This film explores the legacy of tragedy and its relevance to today, following producer Jerri Zbiral to the 50th anniversary of the massacre, where she speaks with survivors, their children and others to explore how Lidice affected their lives.
