Universal Declaration of Human Rights

October 27, 2008

December 10, 2008 marks the 60th anniversary of the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights by the United Nations.  The process of drafting the declaration was led by Eleanor Roosevelt.  Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt Institute's web site for the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) includes the text of this document, the history of its inception, and profiles of the leaders behind the writing of the UDHR, including Eleanor Roosevelt.  This site also includes other useful teaching tools such as a timeline and a set of frequently-asked questions. The Reebok Human Rights Program also has a website with thorough information about the UDHR, including an animated version of the document that can be downloaded from the internet.
