Raising Ethical Children
Have you ever wondered about how you might apply some of the key Facing History and Ourselves concepts and values- issues of identity, inclusion and exclusion, respect for differences, and the value of participation— to parenting your own children?
Formed in January of 2005 in Boston by a group of long-time Facing History friends and supporters whose lives were becoming increasingly busy and focused on their children, they hoped to learn-to get insight from experts and from each other on how to best parent their young kids.
Since that first evening in January, "Raising Ethical Children" has become a national series with gatherings taking place in homes around the country.
Guest speakers include psychologists, experts in education or in adolescent development as well as Facing History program staff. The topics range from social cruelty among children, to evaluating bystander behavior, to being a parent your child can turn to, to helping your child build self-esteem and combat stereotypes.
