Facing History is working on multiple projects
in Israel. We have had a relationship with the Center for Humanistic
Studies at the
Ghetto Fighters Museum
for many years. Director Raya Kalisman has attended Facing History
seminars and participated in the Facing History Global Symposium in the
summer of 2005 with educators from across the globe. Other staff
members from the Center have also attended Facing History seminars,
which has enabled their staff to incorporate Facing History resources
and methodology into the Center's work.
Facing History received a grant to do exciting new work with the
New Israel Fund
to create educational materials and facilitate a seminar for educators
in Israel. In the fall of 2006 Facing History will conduct a three day
seminar that will incorporate these new materials into the program and
this seminar will be attended by teachers, administrators and people
from the ministry of education who are involved in citizenship
education. The three day seminar will combine content with effective
teaching strategies. It will be hosted by the Ghetto Fighters Museum
and followed up by a spring trip to assess the implementation of these
new materials in classrooms. We will also be doing a one day workshop
in Jerusalem for people who can not be part of the three day seminar.
Working with the JCRC and
CJP ,
Facing History is also involved in the Boston-Haifa connection.
Educators in three schools in Haifa will attend a Facing History
seminar in the summer of 2006 and will then be partnered with three
Boston area schools.
