Boston, Massachusetts - A leadership grant from the Richard and Susan Smith Family Foundation will allow Facing History and Ourselves to conduct a groundbreaking study over five years to evaluate the impact of Facing History's program on students over time and on teachers' professional development. Evaluation has always been an important way for Facing History to measure the program's effectiveness. The studies over the next five years will include a longitudinal study of the impact of Facing History's professional development activities-including institutes, online courses, and follow-up services-on teachers' ability to deliver the program. This experimental study of high school students, alumni, and teachers will explore their acquisition of historical, civic and social competencies.
