Anne Sheldon

Anne SheldonAnne Sheldon first studied Facing History in an eighth grade Holocaust unit and became more involved by participating in the New England region's Student Symposium this past year, where students from Boston area high schools gathered to discuss responsibilities of citizenship in the 21st century. Inspired by the conversations, students in the symposium created a video montage of images from Darfur to raise awareness on the genocide. Along with fellow symposium members, Daria Schneider and Zach Rowe, Sheldon chose to participate further, spearheading a local letter-writing campaign to officials in Washington, D.C., demanding involvement and intervention from the U.S. government.

"Facing History has helped me realize the large-scale significance of activism. That it is not just about promoting a cause-- it is about educating yourself and others along the way." - Anne Sheldon
