Opportunity to Win $300 for High School and College Students

February 25, 2013

High school and college students are invited to participate in an essay contest to support the 98th anniversary commemoration of the Armenian Genocide. Three student finalists will receive cash prizes ($300, $200, and $100 respectively for first, second, and third place finishers), and will also be recognized at the Armenian Genocide Commemoration at Times Square in New York City on Sunday, April 21, 2013.

Students submitting essays must answer the question: Why is it important for schools nationwide to include the Armenian Genocide in the core curriculum? Essay submissions should be no longer than 800 words, double-spaced, 12-point Arial font. Please include the student’s full name, teacher’s full name and subject area, name of high school or college, year in school, hometown/state, phone number, and email address at the top of each page of the essay. Final essays should be submitted by email to Taleen, at april24nyc@gmail.com, no later than Friday, March 29, 2013.

The contest is open to high school and college students across the United States.

The essay contest is co-sponsored by Facing History and Ourselves and the Knights & Daughters of Vartan, an international Armenian fraternal organization.
