New York Times Best-Selling Author Wes Moore to Speak in Memphis, TN
Youth advocate, Army combat veteran, businessman, nonprofit leader, and New York Times best-selling author Wes Moore will speak to friends of Facing History and Ourselves at the 15th Annual Memphis Benefit Dinner on November 3. His book, The Other Wes Moore, published in April 2010, became an instant New York Times and Wall Street Journal best-seller. The book tells the story of two young men--both named Wes Moore--trying to find their way in a challenging, and at times, hostile world. “I remember there was actually a scene in the book where Wes and I were talking. And I asked him, ‘Do you think that we’re products of our environment,’” recalled the author, “We were talking about Baltimore. He said, ‘You know, I think we’re products of our expectations.’"
A previous speaker for Facing History, Wes is committed to helping young people redirect their lives and supporting the parents, teachers, mentors, and volunteers who care for and work with our nation's youth.
The reception begins at 6 p.m. at the Peabody Hotel in Memphis. Click here to register.
