We are pleased to announce the release of our latest publication
Teaching "Reporter” and its dynamic companion website Making Media,
Making Sense, Making a Difference at reporter.facinghistory.org. These resources support teachers, students, and community members as they explore the essential questions of civic and media literacy that arise for engaged global citizens in our information age.
The film Reporter follows Pulitzer Prize-winning New York Times columnist Nicholas Kristof on a reporting trip to central Africa as he tries to find stories that will galvanize readers to take action to prevent further humanitarian disasters in places such as Congo and Darfur. Teaching “Reporter” and Making Media, Making Sense, Making a Difference are tools to support educators who wish to adapt this film for classroom use. The guide and the site, used in tandem or individually, encourage students to make connections between the dramatic events of the film and their own choices as creators and consumers of media.
