Facing History Student Film Premiers at the Lincoln Center June 19th
June 18, 2009
"In My Shoes," directed and produced by Facing History School seniors Zanetta King and Olivia McClendon with the Urban Arts Partnership, is a powerful documentary about four teenagers in New York City and their experiences with homelessness. The film premiers at the Youth Producing Change World Premiere at the Human Rights Watch International Film Festival in NYC on June 19, 2009. On June 2nd Zanetta and Olivia, and the other seniors from the Facing History School's first graduating class presented their Choosing to Participate exhibition at City College in New York City. In this exhibition, students showed how they put four years of learning about what it means to be an"upstander" in society to action. Projects ranged from multimedia film compilations to public service announcements and covered issues like teen homelessness, affordable housing in New York, immigration in America, and education in a system they know firsthand.
