Facing History School Gets An "A"

November 20, 2009

In the recently released, 2008-2009 high school report cards issued by the New York City Department of Education’s annual report, the Facing History School received an “A”. After graduating its first class of seniors in June 2009, this was the first year that the Facing History School was eligible to be graded. We are proud to report that the school excelled in many areas valued by the New York City Department of Education, including high academic expectations, student engagement, and regents passing rates. Another area where the Facing History School shined was, “Closing the Achievement Gap,” which is the portion of the report that credits schools based on “exemplary performance” among students in high risk/special needs categories. Our school received considerable recognition and “extra credit” for the progress made by the special education students and English Language Learners.
