The Facing History School Celebrates Its First Graduation
July 2, 2009
On June 26, the Facing History School's (FHS) first graduating class celebrated the culmination of their hard work and determination in a four hour ceremony packed with parents and friends. It was just four years ago that this small public high school in New York City opened with Facing History and Ourselves as its lead partner. There were many tears and much laughter as faculty and students spoke about how far they've come. Rosie Perez, the Brooklyn-born actress who has worked with the students through Urban Arts Partnership, gave the keynote, telling the students how incredible she thinks they are. She reminded them to never forget how lucky they are to have been at FHS.
