Facing History Participates in International Holocaust Remembrance Day
Facing History and Ourselves has partnered with the Boston, Massachusetts, chapter of the Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC) to commemorate the United Nations International Holocaust Remembrance Day on January 28, 2013. Staff from Facing History in New England will facilitate a small group presentation and discussion between local Holocaust survivor Janet Applefield and students at Urban Science Academy in West Roxbury. Applefield’s daughter, Debbie Milley, will also participate in the discussion.
The second portion of the commemoration took place this past weekend when community members gathered for a screening of the powerful new documentary, A Promise to My Father. The one-hour film chronicles the return of Holocaust and Auschwitz survivor, and Facing History featured speaker, Israel Arbeiter to Poland and Germany in the spring of 2012.
