Minister Elaine Blanchard, Community Activist, Memphis, TN A professional
storyteller, nurse, minister, and social justice advocate, Elaine Blanchard brings hope and purpose to those overlooked by society by revealing their potential. Her Prison Stories Project works with incarcerated women in storytelling and creative writing. Blanchard is also active in HIV/AIDS education and is a consultant for Women’s Ministries in the United Church of Christ. As a UCC minister and lesbian, she has passionately acted in support of a proposed Shelby County ordinance prohibiting job discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation.
