Ellen Prewitt, a former lawyer and published author, is an advocate for the homeless, facilitating a weekly writing workshop at Door of Hope Homeless Shelter. The writing group provides residents not only topics and ideas for effective writing, but also a voice and outlet for their feelings, emotions, and opinions. The works are shared among the writers and also in the online magazine, The Advocate. The group’s communal writing experience allows for artistic expression and encourages the realization that all people share the same fundamental emotions, hopes, and dreams.
